Presley Gerber, the 27-year-old son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, has died at a rehabilitation facility in Santa Monica.
Santa Monica police are investigating his death as a suspected overdose, but the official cause and manner of death have not yet been determined by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. Police have also said there is no indication of foul play.
A representative for Crawford and Rande Gerber, Allie Jenkins, said the family is asking for privacy.
“The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time,” Jenkins told CBS News.
Presley followed his mother and younger sister Kaia Gerber into modelling. He made his runway debut for Moschino at 16 and later worked with major fashion houses including Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana and Bottega Veneta.
He had also spoken publicly about his struggles with mental health and drug use. In a 2023 interview with the Studio 22 podcast, Presley discussed his experiences with depression and other challenges, saying he hoped sharing his story could help others facing similar difficulties.
Kaia also spoke about her brother’s struggles with addiction in a recent interview with American Vogue. She said his openness had changed how the family approached difficult experiences and the stigma surrounding them.
Presley was known for his close relationship with his family. He appeared with Kaia in a Calvin Klein campaign in 2018 and had her name tattooed on his arm. He also appeared alongside his mother in Pepsi’s 2018 Super Bowl commercial, recreating her famous 1992 advertisement for the brand.
His father, Rande Gerber, is a businessman who co-founded Casamigos with George Clooney. Presley’s family remained closely connected, and Crawford continued to publicly celebrate her son over the years.
In July, she marked his 27th birthday by sharing childhood photographs on Instagram, writing that she was proud of the man he had become while still seeing him as her “little boy”.
Presley’s death remains under investigation as authorities await the medical examiner’s findings.
