Five more people died of dengue across the country in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 195 this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
During the same period, 1,872 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across Bangladesh, marking the highest single-day total recorded so far this year.
With the latest admissions, the total number of people hospitalised with dengue this year has risen to 65,499.
The latest figures were released in a press statement issued by the Health Emergency Operations Centre and Control Room of the DGHS on Tuesday.
Of the five deaths reported during the 24-hour period, two occurred in Rajshahi division, outside the city corporation area. Barishal division, also outside the city corporation area, reported one death, while one death each was recorded in areas under Dhaka North and Dhaka South city corporations.
Dhaka division outside the city corporation areas recorded the highest number of new hospital admissions, with 391 patients, followed by Khulna division with 316 and Chattogram division with 285.
In Dhaka, 159 patients were admitted to hospitals in areas under Dhaka North City Corporation, while 191 were hospitalised in areas under Dhaka South City Corporation.
Barishal division reported 190 new admissions, while 162 patients were hospitalised in Rajshahi, 105 in Mymensingh and 67 in Rangpur.
Sylhet recorded the lowest number of new hospital admissions, with six patients reported during the period.
