Five more people have died from suspected measles across the country in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of suspected deaths to 1,081, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
During the same period, 1,183 new suspected measles cases and 100 confirmed cases were detected, while 1,105 patients were admitted to hospitals and 1,132 recovered and were discharged.
The figures were disclosed in Thursday’s health bulletin issued by the Health Emergency Operations Centre and Control Room under the DGHS.
Of the five deaths recorded in the past 24 hours, three occurred in Dhaka division and two in Sylhet division. Dhaka district reported the highest number of deaths, with three fatalities.
Dhaka division recorded the highest number of suspected cases during the period with 442 patients, followed by Chattogram with 243, Sylhet with 156, Barishal with 130, Khulna with 103, Mymensingh with 72, Rajshahi with 28 and Rangpur with nine.
According to DGHS data, between 15 March and 24 September 2026, the country reported 184,632 suspected measles cases and 20,951 confirmed cases.
The number of suspected measles deaths during the period stood at 980, while 101 deaths were confirmed as measles-related.
During the same period, a total of 163,153 patients were admitted to hospitals, while 156,744 recovered and were discharged.
The DGHS said 19,855,274 people have received measles vaccines against a target of 18,015,064, achieving 110.2 per cent coverage.
At the divisional level, Mymensingh recorded the highest vaccination coverage at 115.5 per cent, while Barishal had the lowest at 104.9 per cent.
Among city corporations, Gazipur achieved the highest coverage at 117.4 per cent, while Rangpur recorded 100.3 per cent coverage.
