Members of Inqilab Moncho have blocked the Shahbagh area in Dhaka as part of an ongoing protest, demanding justice for the murder of their spokesperson, Sharif Osman Hadi.
The blockade has caused significant disruption, with key roads blocked and traffic severely affected in the area.
The protest escalated earlier in the day when Inqilab Moncho supporters clashed with law enforcement officers.
Police responded by using batons, rubber bullets, tear gas, and sound grenades in an attempt to disperse the crowd.
During the confrontation, Abdullah Al Jaber, the member secretary of Inqilab Moncho, was reportedly shot with rubber bullets.
At least 30 other protesters, including Ammar, the general secretary of Rucsu, sustained serious injuries. Many of the injured were found to have wounds from shrapnel caused by sound grenades.
In retaliation, protesters threw bricks at the police, injuring several officers in the process.
The injured protesters were initially transported to Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital (BIRDEM) at the Shahbagh intersection. However, hospital authorities prevented them from entering, citing capacity issues.
The protesters were then transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for further treatment.
The ongoing protest is focused on demanding justice for Hadi’s murder, with Inqilab Moncho members calling for accountability and swift action in the case.
Police are closely monitoring the situation as efforts continue to clear the blockade and restore normalcy to the area.
