High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Pranay Verma has reaffirmed India’s unwavering support for a democratic, stable, peaceful, progressive, and inclusive Bangladesh during an Iftar gathering organised by the High Commission.

Welcoming guests to Iftar on behalf of his wife and the High Commission of India family on Saturday, Verma described the holy month of Ramadan as a special time for reflection, gratitude, and thinking about the well-being of humanity.

He noted that the occasion serves as a moment for people to come together to celebrate life’s many blessings, read a press release.

The high commissioner highlighted that the sacred month reinforces enduring values central to both faiths and cultures, including compassion, empathy, generosity, and kindness.

He emphasised the people-centric nature of the India-Bangladesh relationship, which is built upon strong bonds of friendship and deep societal and familial ties.

Reflecting on the historical connection between the two nations, he pointed to the shared sacrifices made during the 1971 Liberation War of Bangladesh as an indelible memory that continues to unite the two peoples.

Looking towards the future, Verma stated that both vibrant societies stand at the threshold of a promising era. He expressed a commitment to working together to bring shared prosperity to both countries and the wider region.

The high commissioner extended his warmest wishes for peace, health, and happiness to those present and to all people across Bangladesh observing Ramadan.

He concluded by expressing hope that the month would reinforce a collective resolve to stand together in friendship and solidarity, grounded in a sense of common humanity.
