Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 502 people in the capital during its regular 24-hour security drive, filing 71 cases in connection with various incidents.
The DMP disclosed the information in a press release issued on Tuesday.
According to the DMP, the arrested individuals include 18 from Ramna Division, 28 from Lalbagh, 55 from Wari, 72 from Motijheel, 94 from Tejgaon, 134 from Mirpur, 32 from Gulshan, 50 from Uttara and 19 from the Detective Branch.
During the drives, police recovered 7,942 yaba tablets, 5kg 250g of cannabis and 3.2g of heroin.
Police also seized a mobile phone, a knife, four machetes, a spoke wrench, two helmets, two pickup vans, 150 litres of diesel, a drum, a battery, a plastic pipe and Tk2,200 in cash.
The DMP said the arrests were made during regular operations conducted across different police stations in the capital, during which various pieces of evidence and narcotics were recovered.
Legal action against the arrested individuals is underway, the police said.
