Tania Bristhy is set to return to the big screen after an eight-year gap, confirming her role in Raihan Khan’s forthcoming film ‘Tribunal’. The actor, who made her film debut in 2015 with ‘Ghashphul’, spoke about the project at an event on Tuesday and addressed long-standing questions about her absence from cinema.
Bristhy said she had spent the intervening years building her craft in television, which she considers the foundation of her career. “Cinema is a large canvas and you need to be prepared to survive here,” she said. “The small screen gave me the space to grow. That preparation has taken eight to ten years.”
Although her film commitments now limit her time in television, she insisted she has no plans to leave the medium. “The audience knows me because of drama. There is no rule that you must quit drama to act in films. I will work less, but I will work selectively,” she said.
Bristhy has taken a more immersive approach to Tribunal, which is based on a true story involving questions of justice and morality. Before filming, she trained for a month with actor Tariq Anam Khan and spent time speaking with patients in hospital to understand her character’s emotional landscape.
The actor confirmed that shooting for Tribunal will wrap this month and the production team hopes to release the film next Eid.
