Huawei Bangladesh has launched an AI training programme for students of the Confucius Institute at the University of Dhaka through a partnership that will allow the institute to operate as a registered Huawei ICT Academy.
The initiative followed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Huawei and Confucius Institute on Monday at the Chinese Enterprise Job Fair, organised as part of Sino-Bangla Day 2026 at the University of Dhaka.
Huawei South Asia Public Affairs Managing Director Ma Ben and CIDU Director Yang Hui signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.
Under the partnership, Huawei will provide Confucius Institute students with free access to an online, self-paced AI training programme covering areas such as mathematics basics, AI overview, intelligent cultural computing, AI principles and applications, AI technologies and applications, and Huawei AI processor development.
Ma Ben said the partnership would strengthen industry-academia collaboration in Bangladesh’s ICT sector and equip young people with future-ready AI knowledge and skills aligned with the evolving technology landscape.
Yang Hui said access to structured AI courses and global certification pathways would complement Confucius Institute’s academic efforts by exposing students to emerging technologies and international standards.
Huawei ICT Academy is a global industry-academia partnership platform designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical skills needed for the digital economy.
Huawei also collected CVs from students at the job fair, providing them with opportunities to explore potential employment with the company. The company said fresh graduates join Huawei each year and gain professional experience through career opportunities.
