The condition of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha and a prospective independent candidate for Dhaka-8, is extremely critical. He is currently undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital (SGH).

Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, conveyed this information to Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus over the phone on Wednesday night.

According to the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing, Dr Balakrishnan visited the hospital earlier on the day to see Hadi, whom he described as a “fearless warrior at the forefront of the July Mass Uprising.”

At 9:40pm, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan called Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus and briefed him in detail about Hadi’s treatment procedures. During the call, Vivian told the chief adviser, “Hadi’s condition is extremely critical.”

The press wing further stated that the chief adviser has urged the nation to remain calm and has requested prayers for Hadi.

On 12 December, two assailants shot at Hadi while he was travelling in an auto-rickshaw in the Bijoynagar area of Box Culvert Road in Purana Paltan, Dhaka.

They fled the scene immediately. Hadi sustained a severe head injury from the gunshot. He was first taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), and later transferred to Evercare Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment.

On 14 December, following the directive of Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, the decision was made to send Hadi to Singapore for treatment. The government is bearing all costs related to his treatment.
