A two-day training on financial management for sub-projects has begun at Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) under the Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HEAT) project, aiming to strengthen transparency, accountability and efficiency in university finance systems.
The programme started on Wednesday at the IQAC Seminar Room of the university, according to a press release.
A total of 41 participants, including Sub-Project Managers and their teams from Gazipur Agricultural University and Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology, joined the training.
Gazipur Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor Professor GKM Mustafizur Rahman attended as chief guest, while Institutional Quality Assurance Cell Director Professor Nasrin Akter Ivy chaired the session.
Gazipur Agricultural University Director Research Professor Md Moshiul Islam, who also serves as Head of UATFS, was present as special guest.
The sessions are being conducted by HEAT project Senior Financial Management Specialist Md Monsuruzzaman Khan.
“Effective financial management in university projects is essential for ensuring transparency, accountability and sustainable institutional development,” said Institutional Quality Assurance Cell Director Professor Nasrin Akter Ivy.
“Transparent and efficient financial practices are crucial for successful project implementation in higher education,” said Gazipur Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor Professor GKM Mustafizur Rahman, urging participants to apply the learning in their professional roles.
The technical sessions cover financial agreements, Development Project Proposal, sub-project fund management, Public Procurement Rules 2025 procedures, Request for Quotation, income tax and VAT regulations, budget preparation, voucher register maintenance, and debit-credit voucher preparation.
The programme is scheduled to conclude on the second day with an open discussion and certificate distribution.
