Sonali Bank PLC is stepping up promotion of Bangla QR as part of its push towards cashless transactions, with Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Md Shawkat Ali Khan joining an awareness campaign at Monowara Hospital in the capital’s Bailey Road area on Sunday.
The state-owned lender is encouraging businesses, hawkers, shopkeepers and customers to use Bangla QR for cashless payments as it seeks to contribute to building a cashless Bangladesh, the bank said in a press release.
Khan said Sonali Bank was working to expand digital transactions through Bangla QR and encourage wider adoption of the payment system.
Earlier, he visited a Bangla QR promotional campaign organised by Sonali Bank’s Viqarunnisa Noon School Branch.
During the visit, Khan bought a product from a street hawker using Bangla QR before joining the campaign at Monowara Hospital.
Deputy Managing Director Md Rafiqul Islam, General Manager Md Aminul Islam and other executives and officials of the bank attended the programmes.
