Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) organised a day-long training programme on campus security on 15 April at its campus in Gazipur, aimed at strengthening safety systems and improving the professional capacity of security personnel.
The initiative, arranged by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), brought together officers and staff engaged in maintaining campus security and was structured in two segments, an inaugural session and a technical session.
Gazipur Agricultural University Vice Chancellor Professor GKM Mustafizur Rahman attended as chief guest, while IQAC Director Professor Nasrin Akter Ivy chaired the programme.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor M Moynul Haque and Treasurer Professor Md Safiul Islam Afrad were present as special guests, and the session was moderated by IQAC Additional Director Professor Mohammad Sharif Raihan.
In the opening remarks, IQAC Director Professor Nasrin Akter Ivy highlighted the importance of security awareness and continuous professional development, while speakers underscored vigilance, shared responsibility and humane conduct as key elements in ensuring a safe campus environment.
Vice Chancellor Professor GKM Mustafizur Rahman said a secure environment is essential for the university’s overall progress and academic excellence, urging security personnel to maintain integrity, dedication and professionalism.
He also stressed the importance of incorporating modern technology to further strengthen campus security management.
The technical session featured practical training conducted by Treasurer Professor Md Safiul Islam Afrad, Proctor Professor Mohammad Saiful Alam and Registrar Md Abdullah Mridha.
The session focused on the role and importance of security personnel, their duties and responsibilities, real-life scenarios, emergency response strategies and essential operational skills.
Officials said the programme aimed to enhance preparedness and operational effectiveness, while encouraging a more coordinated and responsible approach to campus security.
The training concluded with participants reaffirming their commitment to maintaining a secure, efficient and disciplined campus environment.
