Freshers’ Reception and Blood Donor Honour Ceremony, organised by the Badhan Unit of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Hall at the University of Dhaka, was held on Sunday evening at the hall auditorium.
University of Dhaka Treasurer Professor Dr M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury attended the programme as the chief guest, according to a press release.
The event was presided over by Md Hasikul Islam, former president of the Badhan Hall Unit.Professor Dr Munshi M Habibullah of Sir Salimullah Medical College (Mitford) Hospital and Professor Dr Sanjida Shahriya, director of Phoenix Wellness Center Bangladesh, attended as honoured guests.
Hall Provost Professor Dr Md Nazmul Hossain and Badhan Hall Unit adviser Lecturer Naimul Islam addressed the programme as special guests.The president and general secretary of the Badhan Hall Unit, along with blood donors, were also present at the ceremony.
A total of 37 blood donors from the hall were honoured for their contribution.
In his address, Treasurer Professor Dr M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said blood donation is a noble humanitarian act that plays a vital role in saving lives.
He noted that such activities help strengthen social bonds and mutual empathy, and urged students to work together in unity for the welfare of humanity.
