Four more children have died with measles-like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, while 1,174 new cases have been reported during the same period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In a statement issued on Friday, the DGHS said the recent deaths were classified as suspected measles cases. It added that no confirmed measles deaths were recorded in the latest 24-hour period.
Health officials said that between 15 March and 19 June, a total of 577 children have died with suspected measles symptoms, while confirmed measles deaths during the same period stand at 93.
During the latest reporting period, 1,078 suspected measles cases were identified, along with 96 confirmed infections, the DGHS said.
Overall, from 15 March to 19 June, suspected measles cases across the country have risen to 90,982, while confirmed cases have reached 10,869.
DGHS data further shows that 75,156 suspected patients were admitted to hospitals during the period, of whom 71,396 have recovered and been discharged.
