A shipment of fuel for the first unit of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant is expected to arrive on Friday, according to an official of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Regulatory Authority.
The official said no approval has yet been granted for the import of fuel for the plant’s second unit.
The shipment scheduled to arrive on Friday is the remaining portion allocated for the unit-1.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, the official said the valve problem that emerged in the unit-1 has not yet been fully resolved. Russian specialists are still working to fix the issue.
“I think the entire valve set may have to be replaced. In that case, it could take at least another three months,” said another official.
