Five more children have died from measles symptoms and related complications across the country in the past 24 hours till Friday morning, while 1,411 new cases have been reported, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The updated measles situation report released by the health authorities on Friday said during the period, 243 children were confirmed to have measles infection, while the number of patients showing measles-related symptoms stood at 1,168.
DGHS data further shows that from 15 March to 5 June this year, a total of 610 children have died due to measles or measles-like symptoms.
Of them, 91 deaths were confirmed measles cases, while 519 were reported with suspected measles symptoms.
Since 15 March, a total of 76,876 suspected measles cases have been recorded nationwide, with 9,503 confirmed infections. During this period, 62,237 patients were admitted to hospitals, of whom 58,154 have been discharged after recovery.
