A mobile court has fined a fish trader Tk50,000 for injecting jelly into prawns in Narsingdi.
The operation was carried out around 6am Monday at a wholesale fish warehouse.
Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Meftahul Hasan confirmed the matter, saying trader Parimal Das was fined under Section 31(1) of the Fish and Fish Products (Inspection and Quality Control) Ordinance, 2020.
He added that about 123kg of jelly‑injected prawns were seized and destroyed in front of the public.
Sadar upazila fisheries officer and members of law enforcement agencies assisted the operation.
