A woman was killed after falling off a motorcycle and being run over by a covered van on the Feni-Noakhali Highway at Daganbhuiyan Bazar on Thursday morning.
The deceased was identified as Jobaida Akhtar, 30, a credit officer at BRAC’s Daganbhuiyan office.
Daganbhuiyan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Faizul Azim Noman confirmed the death.
According to locals, Jobaida was riding on a motorcycle with her colleague, Nuruzzaman, around 11:30am.
The motorcycle collided with a covered van in front of Daganbhuiyan Atatürk High School Market, throwing Jobaida under the van’s wheels. She died on the spot.
Police seized the covered van and detained its driver.
OC Faizul said legal action is underway.
