The first Hajj flight from Bangladesh has reached in Saudi Arabia, carrying 419 pilgrims.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG 3001 touched down at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah at 4:20am (local time) on Saturday.
The pilgrims were welcomed at the airport by the Bangladesh Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Md Delwar Hossain, and Md Kamrul Islam, counsellor (Hajj).
Upon arrival, the pilgrims were greeted with flowers and presented with refreshment kits.
Also present at the reception were Md Sakhawat Hossain, consul general of the Bangladesh Consulate in Jeddah; Md Ruhul Amin, assistant seasonal Hajj officer; Yahya Radi, head of operations at the Jeddah Hajj Terminal; and Raed Bakshawn, manager of Nusuk Marhaba, the Saudi organisation responsible for receiving pilgrims.
Earlier, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman officially inaugurated Hajj Flight-2026 at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11:30pm on Friday.
