Renowned Bangladeshi filmmaker F I Manik, known for delivering a string of commercially successful films, has recently undergone surgery at a hospital in the capital.
The veteran director, who had been suffering from a hernia problem for some time, was admitted to a hospital in Moghbazar earlier this week. According to hospital sources, the four-hour-long operation was successfully completed on Saturday night (October 4).
Following the procedure, Manik was transferred to a cabin for recovery. Initially, none of his wife or children were reportedly present at the hospital. Later, several members of the film fraternity visited him to extend their support, while his three sisters and other relatives were present during the surgery.
Doctors decided to perform an emergency operation after Manik’s pain worsened on Thursday (October 2). He was admitted immediately following a series of tests that confirmed the urgency of surgery.
F I Manik is one of the most celebrated names in Dhallywood’s commercial cinema, credited with a long list of hit films that dominated the box office in the 1990s and 2000s. Some of his most notable works include Shopner Bashor, Phool Nebo Na Ashru Nebo, Koti Takar Kabin, Chachchu, Moner Modhe Bhalobasha, and Amar Praner Priya.
Fans and industry peers have taken to social media to wish the filmmaker a speedy recovery, acknowledging his lasting contribution to the country’s mainstream film industry.
