Football fans in Bangladesh will get a rare opportunity to see the original FIFA World Cup trophy up close when it arrives in Dhaka on 14 January.
With around six months to go before the FIFA World Cup kicks off in the United States, Canada and Mexico, the tournament’s iconic trophy is set to tour Bangladesh as part of the build-up to the global event. The visit is being organised by Coca-Cola, the tournament’s long-time partner.
According to a press release issued by Coca-Cola on Wednesday, the trophy’s arrival in Dhaka is part of the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour. “As part of the Coca-Cola-organised FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour, the original FIFA World Cup trophy will arrive in Dhaka on 14 January. This will give football fans in Bangladesh the chance to see football’s most coveted prize with their own eyes,” the statement said.
As part of the global tour, the FIFA World Cup trophy will travel to 30 countries and appear at 75 locations over 150 days, bringing a unique experience to fans around the world.
