European Championship holders Spain will face Copa América champions Argentina in the 2026 Finalissima, UEFA confirmed on Thursday.
The match between the reigning champions of Europe and South America will be played at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar on 27 March 2026, with kick-off scheduled for 9.00pm local time.
The Finalissima was revived in 2021 after UEFA and South American governing body CONMEBOL came together in opposition to FIFA’s proposal for a biennial World Cup. The renewed fixture pits the winners of the Euros against the Copa América champions.
Argentina will return to familiar surroundings in Lusail, where they lifted the FIFA World Cup title in 2022. In the previous edition of the Finalissima, Lionel Messi’s side dominated Italy with a convincing 3–0 victory.
Spain and Argentina have faced each other 14 times in international football, with both sides recording six wins apiece, highlighting the balance ahead of next year’s clash in Doha.
