Several new actresses have entered Bangladesh’s television drama scene in recent months. While some have earned attention through their talent and performances, Fariha Rahman Paru has quickly emerged as one of the most talked-about newcomers.

The Noakhali-born actress, who is studying for an honours degree in Media and Communication at a private university, has appeared in one drama after another over the past eight months.

Paru began her media career in 2022 as a model in a Mojo advertisement. She later worked in several other commercials but could not remain active because of family reasons.

After a short break, she returned to advertising before appearing in Arafat Mohsin Nidhi’s web series Atka.

She came into the spotlight after starring opposite Arsh Khan in Adib Hasan’s drama Prem Amar. Her performance, along with her sweet smile and expressive eyes, won over viewers and caught the attention of directors.

Since then, Paru has tried to give her best in every drama she has worked on. As a result, several of her projects have generated discussion. Among them are Tokai Mon Chhuye Jay, Shudhu Tumi Amar, Ashik Priya, Iti Abir, Ghumao Go Jaan, Chachchu, Safeia Ronger Bikel and Priyo Phool.

Paru has mostly appeared opposite popular actor Arsh Khan. While audiences once enjoyed Arsh and Brishti’s on-screen chemistry, Arsh and Paru have now won similar appreciation.

Their performances, particularly in romantic dramas, have struck a chord with viewers.

Paru recently returned from Thailand after completing work on six dramas. The projects were directed by Mabrur Rashid Bannah, Sohag Rana, Mir Arman and Bappi. Arsh Khan plays opposite Paru in four of the dramas, while Naovi co-stars in the other two.

She has also completed filming for the drama Mithye Prem Shotto Bhalobasha, directed by Sokal Ahmed.

Paru is one of two daughters of Noakhali couple Milon and Shyama. Her sister’s name is Maliha. Paru was born on 27 June, while her best friend Ema lives in Italy.

Speaking about her rapid rise and future plans, Paru said she loves acting deeply and would be happy to spend every day of the month working on screen.

“I am truly overwhelmed by the response and love I have received from viewers in such a short time. I want to hold on to this love and continue working in good stories so that I can go much further,” she said.
