Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday urged authorities to provide health services to the public even with limited resources.
Speaking to reporters in the morning after inspecting the 250-bed General Hospital in Thakurgaon, Fakhrul confirmed that a medical college will be established in Thakurgaon.
He said the hospital supervisor will be given the necessary support to maintain cleanliness and ensure proper health services. The district administration will also arrange a lift to ease movement for patients and their relatives.
On overall healthcare in Thakurgaon, Fakhrul announced that the general hospital will be expanded from 250 to 500 beds to better serve the local population.
Thakurgaon Deputy Commissioner Ishrat Farzana, Superintendent of Police Belal Hossain and health officials were present during the visit.
