At least six people were injured in a clash between two rival groups in Kushtia Sadar upazila on Saturday night. The injured were admitted to the 250‑bed Kushtia General Hospital, locals said.
More than 20 houses were attacked, vandalised, and looted during the violence, according to Kushtia Model Police Station’s Officer‑in‑charge Kabir Hossain Matubbor.
The incident occurred around 8pm in the Baria‑Bhadaliapara area. OC Kabir said the clash stemmed from a long‑standing dispute between supporters of Abdul Hannan, president of the Bottoil Union BNP and a former Union Parishad member, and Saiful, also a former UP member from Bhadaliapara.
Police, army, and RAB personnel reached the scene around 10pm and brought the situation under control. Several sharp weapons were recovered from the area.
