Former lawmaker and retired army officer Masud Uddin Chowdhury, who was arrested in connection with a human trafficking case, was pelted with eggs by an incensed crowd at the court premises on Tuesday.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police produced the retired military official before the court to seek remand. Following the conclusion of the hearing, the court granted a five-day remand in a case filed with Paltan Police Station.
As he was being escorted away from the courtroom, several individuals in the crowd hurled eggs at him. The protesters also chanted various slogans to express their grievances against Masud Uddin.
Speaking to journalists, one individual who participated in the egging stated, “I felt some peace after hitting him with 10 rotten eggs; if I get a chance in the future, I will throw more”
