A total of 5,04,500 postal ballots from expatriates registered via the “Postal Vote BD” mobile application have reached Bangladesh for the 13th parliamentary election and referendum.
Salim Ahmad Khan, team leader of the Out of Country Voting System Development & Implementation (OCV-SDI) project on expatriate voter registration, confirmed the matter. Authorities have dispatched 7,67,188 ballots to expatriates by BD Post as of Tuesday.
Of these, 5,28,290 voters have received their ballots, while 5,14,053 have already cast their votes. Returning officers (ROs) within Bangladesh have received 4,31,258 of these.
Election Commission (EC) has also started sending postal ballots to eligible voters inside the country under the In-Country Postal Voting (ICPV) system. Officials have sent ballots to 7,60,898 registered domestic voters.
Latest EC data shows that 5,96,760 of these voters had received their ballots. Among them, 5,54,899 have cast their votes, with 5,25,370 ballots submitted to post offices or designated mailboxes. ROs have received 3,54,147 domestic postal ballots.
Salim Ahmad Khan also said a combined total of 15,33,684 voters, both at home and abroad, have registered on the application to vote.
