The Election Commission (EC) has extended the registration deadline for the Postal Vote BD app ahead of the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election and referendum.
EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed disclosed the decision to journalists on Wednesday at the Election Commission building in Agargaon.
He said the registration deadline, which had earlier been set for 25 December, has now been extended until 31 December, urging those who have not yet registered to complete the process within the revised timeframe.
Akhtar Ahmed also said that Bangladesh Bank has been requested to keep scheduled banks open next Saturday to facilitate any bank-related transactions linked to the submission of nomination papers by prospective candidates or their agents.
Responding to a query on whether the reception for BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman could violate the election code of conduct and whether it would be monitored, the EC secretary said the matter would be overseen by the returning officer.
