Election Commission (EC) has issued a firm directive to all Returning Officers (ROs), mandating strict enforcement of the electoral code of conduct, with a specific prohibition on the use of posters during electioneering for the 13th parliamentary election.
In an official letter signed on Wednesday by Deputy Secretary (Election Management-2 Wing) Mohammad Monir Hossain, EC outlined the necessary compliance measures. The instruction targets all candidates participating in the national elections scheduled for 12 February.
The letter explicitly referenced Rule 7(a) of the Code of Conduct for Political Parties and Candidates in Parliamentary Elections, 2025, which clearly forbids the use of posters in election campaigns.
Consequently, EC has ordered all ROs to take immediate action. They must ensure that no candidate utilises posters for campaign purposes, rigorously enforce the stipulated code of conduct, and instruct local printing presses to refrain from producing any election-related posters.
