Tension prevails between independent candidate AB Zubayer and hall-level leaders of Chhatra Dal at the Physical Education Center voting booth.
Saeed Ali Shithil, candidate for Internal Sports Secretary of the Chhatra Dal-supported panel at Shahid Sergeant Zahurul Haq Hall, said, “We were all praying from a distance outside the voting centres when they came and started trying to ‘mob’ us. They are attempting to disrupt the fair election process.”
On the other hand, AB Zubayer alleged that multiple candidates are campaigning outside voting centres, violating the code of conduct.
Regarding this matter, the observer on duty, Dr Abdullah Al Mamun, Provost of Salimullah Muslim Hall, said, “It is very important to maintain the voting environment inside the voting centres. These matters should be handled according to the Election Commission’s guidelines; if the code of conduct is violated, the Election Commission will take action.”
General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Chhatra Dal Nasir Uddin Nasir alleged that the observers at the voting centres are giving special favours to Islami Chhatra Shibir.
