The upcoming Eid film ‘Domm’, directed by Redoan Rony, has received a ‘U’ (Universal) certificate from the Bangladesh Film Certification Board, allowing audiences of all ages to watch the film in theatres. With this clearance, Domm has become the first film among the Eid-ul-Fitr releases to obtain a censor certificate.
The much-anticipated film received its approval without any cuts on Monday (March 16) afternoon, according to Chorki. The certification marks the final stage before the film’s theatrical release during the upcoming Eid festival.
Produced by SVF Alpha-i Entertainment Limited and Chorki, Domm has generated curiosity among audiences since its announcement. The excitement surrounding the project has been fuelled by director Redowan Rony’s return to the big screen after a decade, as well as the first-ever on-screen collaboration between two acclaimed actors, Afran Nisho and Chanchal Chowdhury.
The film recently drew widespread attention on social media following the release of its official poster and first-look teaser. The poster features Afran Nisho with a determined and combative expression, while the teaser hints at the intense survival struggle of an ordinary man. Inspired by a true story, the film’s first look has sparked considerable discussion and praise among viewers online.
Adding to the film’s appeal, legendary singer Sabina Yasmin has lent her voice to the project. After 44 years, she has re-recorded her iconic song ‘Ei Mon Tomake Dilam’ with a new musical arrangement for Domm.
Director Redoan Rony expressed his excitement over the uncut clearance, saying the team is delighted that the film has been certified suitable for viewers of all ages.
“The story of Domm highlights the resilience and awakening of ordinary people. We have been overwhelmed by the response to the poster and teaser, and we hope the film will offer audiences a new cinematic experience while taking them through an inspiring journey,” he said.
Managing Director of SVF Alpha-i Entertainment Limited, Shahriar Shakil, also thanked the members of the certification board.
“From production to release, a film must go through several official procedures, and obtaining the censor certificate is the final step. Domm has now completed that stage. Over the past two and a half years, we have made this film with deep passion, inspired by a true incident. The board members praised the film and approved it without any cuts, which helped preserve the originality of the story. We are now fully prepared to bring the film to audiences on the big screen this Eid,” he said.
Apart from Afran Nisho and Chanchal Chowdhury, the film also stars Puja Cherry and Dolly Zahur. The screenplay has been written by Redoan Rony along with Rabiul Alam Rabi, Syed Ahmed Shawki, Al-Amin Hasan Nirjhor and Md Saifullah Riyad.
