The Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) filed a total of 2,201 cases against traffic rule violators during operations conducted in various parts of the capital on Monday.
According to sources, Motijheel division recorded the highest number of cases at 446, which included 11 buses, two trucks, 22 covered vans, 103 CNGs, and 244 motorcycles. In Uttara division, 434 cases were filed involving 43 buses, one truck, eight covered vans, 84 CNGs, and 189 motorcycles.
Mirpur division registered 404 cases against eight buses, 13 trucks, 16 covered vans, 59 CNGs, and 241 motorcycles. Meanwhile, Wari division filed 242 cases, including 16 buses, 20 trucks, 22 covered vans, 36 CNGs, and 94 motorcycles.
In Gulshan division, 237 cases were recorded involving 29 buses, one truck, 11 covered vans, 30 CNGs, and 80 motorcycles. Tejgaon division filed 200 cases against nine buses, three trucks, seven covered vans, 47 CNGs, and 91 motorcycles.
Lalbagh division registered 167 cases involving 14 buses, eight trucks, eight CNGs, and 112 motorcycles. Ramna division recorded 71 cases, including nine buses, one truck, one covered van, five CNGs, and 19 motorcycles.
During the enforcement drive, a total of 433 vehicles were sent to dumping and 313 vehicles were wrecked. The DMP Traffic Division stated that these operations will continue across Dhaka metropolitan area to ensure and maintain traffic discipline.
