The results of undergraduate (honours) first-year admission tests for Science and Business Studies units of Dhaka Central University (DCU) have been released. The university was formed comprising the seven government colleges of the capital.
DCU Treasurer Professor Borhan Uddin confirmed the publication of the results on Saturday night. He said students would be able to view their results on the university’s admission-related website within a short time.
The admission tests were conducted on Friday in two shifts: from 11am to 12pm and from 3pm to 4pm. The examinations were held simultaneously at designated centres across the seven affiliated government colleges using the Multiple-Choice Question (MCQ) method.
According to university sources, the Science unit saw 31,553 candidates applying for 4,795 seats. This resulted in an average of approximately seven students competing for each available seat.
In the Business Studies unit, 11,244 applications were received for 1,885 seats. For this unit, an average of roughly six applicants competed for every seat.
University authorities noted that a minimum of 40 marks was required to pass the MCQ-based examination. Additionally, to qualify for admission into a desired subject, candidates must secure at least 5 marks in that specific subject.
