Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) arrested four members of the notorious Fazal Quader robber gang and seized weapons during an operation on Thursday in Moheshkhali, Cox’s Bazar.
Media Officer of Coast Guard Lt Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan confirmed the matter on Friday. The arrested individuals have been identified as Md Alamgir, 34, Touhidul Islam Kalu, 24, Faruk, 25, and Kaiyum Uddin, 35.
Lt Commander Sujan said, “Based on a secret tip-off, we learned that several active members of the notorious Fazal Quader robber gang were staying in the Nasirdeil area of Dhalghata. A special operational team from the Coast Guard Moheshkhali Station then conducted a raid there.”
He added, “Based on information obtained during preliminary interrogation, a search was conducted at the houses of the arrested individuals. During the search, two locally made firearms, three rounds of live cartridges, and five locally made weapons were recovered.”
The seized arms, ammunition, and the arrested individuals have been handed over to Moheshkhali Police Station for legal proceedings.
