Commercial Bank of Ceylon Bangladesh (CBC) Operations is supporting Caritas in providing daycare services for young children from vulnerable and low-income families as part of the bank’s education-focused corporate social responsibility initiatives.
The programme provides foundational learning materials, educational tools, caregiving facilities and nutritional support for children of garment-sector employees, small-factory workers and daily wage earners, while allowing working parents to pursue their livelihoods with greater peace of mind, CBC said in a press release.
CBC formally handed over its contribution to Caritas at a programme held at the bank’s head office, attended by senior representatives from both organisations.
Commercial Bank of Ceylon Chief Executive Officer Tivanka Damunupola handed over the cheque to Caritas Executive Director Daud Jibon Das.
The initiative is intended to provide children with a safe, nurturing and inclusive daycare environment while supporting educational equity, child wellbeing, community empowerment and greater financial resilience among vulnerable families, according to the release.
