Police recovered the body of a young man from a hotel room in Khulna early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Sohel Rana alias Babu, son of Lokman Fakir of Harintana Auto-stand Road in the Labanchara Police Station area, reports UNB.
Police recovered the body at around 4:30am from Room No 10 on the second floor of Kapotaksha Residential Hotel on Khanjahan Ali Road under Sadar Police Station.
A woman, identified as Fatema, was detained in connection with the incident.
Lokman Hossain Ripon, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station, said Babu and Fatema had checked into the hotel at around 7pm on Saturday, identifying themselves as husband and wife.
The OC said Babu had a wife living in Dhaka with whom he had no contact. He had been in a long-term relationship with Fatema, who had allegedly been pressuring him to marry her.
According to the OC, Fatema initially confessed that she strangled Babu with a scarf during an argument on Sunday night.
He added that the body would be handed over to the family after the completion of due procedures.
