Brooklyn Beckham has gone public with claims of long-running tension within the Beckham family, alleging emotional control and conflict in a candid social media post that has sparked widespread reaction online.
In the statement shared on Monday, the eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham described what he characterised as years of pressure and manipulation, which he says intensified around his marriage to actor Nicola Peltz. Brooklyn said the strain ultimately led him to distance himself from his parents in order to protect his wellbeing.
Among the most striking claims were allegations that his parents attempted to interfere with his relationship before and after his wedding. He wrote that his mother withdrew from making Nicola’s wedding dress shortly before the ceremony and alleged that his parents pushed him to sign away the rights to his name weeks before the wedding, a move he said would have affected his future family.
Brooklyn also described feeling hurt by comments made on the eve of the wedding, claiming Nicola was described as “not blood” and “not family”. He alleged that criticism continued publicly, including online attacks from family members, which he said deepened the rift.
One of the most personal moments he shared involved his wedding reception, where he claimed his mother interrupted what was planned as his first dance with his wife. He described the experience as humiliating and said it later prompted him and Nicola to renew their vows privately to reclaim happier memories of the occasion.
The post also detailed what he described as repeated disrespect towards his wife, including uncomfortable social situations and an alleged refusal by his father to meet him unless Nicola was excluded.
Brooklyn said stepping away from his family had brought him peace, claiming that anxiety he had experienced for much of his life has since eased. He rejected suggestions that his wife controls him, instead saying the decision to distance himself was his own.
Neither David nor Victoria Beckham has publicly responded to the claims.
