Police recovered the body of a businessman from a forest in the Kaliakair area of Birulia union in Savar on Monday afternoon, 22 days after he went missing.
The deceased was identified as Shajahan Hossain, 40, who had been missing since 12 April after traveling to Gazipur.
Family members had filed a General Diary (GD) after failing to locate him, said Helal Uddin, a resident of Kaliakair village.
Locals discovered the partially decomposed body and informed Savar Model Police Station. The victim’s son, Shariful Islam, identified the body by the clothes.
After a preliminary autopsy, the body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Hospital morgue for further examination.
Savar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Arman Ali said an investigation is underway to determine the cause of death and those involved.
