Bangladesh Police has dismissed as baseless social media claims that bodies of seven Awami League and Chhatra League leaders and activists were floating in the Turag River, urging the public not to be misled by such false propaganda.
In a statement on Saturday, Police Headquarters said no such incident has been reported.
“A certain quarter is engaged in attempts to undermine the morale of law enforcement agencies by spreading such confusion,” the statement said.
Police said they are actively taking legal action against those spreading misinformation and are committed to taking appropriate action against anyone found involved in such propaganda.
Police urged everyone not to be misled by such false propaganda and to rely on verified information from official sources.
