Police recovered the bodies of a man, his wife, and their newborn from a residence in the Madhya Jamgora area of Ashulia, Savar. The bodies were sent to Dhaka’s Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Ashulia Police Station officer‑in‑charge Tarikul Islam said the family had recently moved in as tenants at a building in the area. They rented a flat on the second floor of the four‑storey house.
The bodies were recovered from a locked room around 1:30am, the OC said.
Police suspect it was a planned killing, as a scarf was found wrapped around the man’s neck.
Locals said the room’s door and windows were usually kept shut.
Meanwhile, a forensic team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) collected evidence from the scene, and senior police officials also visited the location.
OC Tarikul Islam said efforts were underway to identify the victims and determine those involved in the incident.
