According to Khulshi Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Golam Mohammad Nasim, Moushumi lived alone in the house.

The police officer added that there were visible signs of serious injuries around Moushumi’s neck, leading investigators to suspect she was killed.

“The incident appears to be a planned murder at first glance. However, the exact cause of death can be determined only after receiving the autopsy report,” SI Nasim stated. Investigators are also looking into whether robbery could have been a motive behind the suspected murder.

As news of her death spread rapidly, members of the Hijra community from different parts of the city gathered at the scene. They staged a protest demanding justice and a proper investigation into her death.

Khulshi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Rahim confirmed that Moushumi was a leader of the local Hijra community. He assured that the police are taking the incident very seriously and are investigating all possible motives.

The body has been sent to the morgue of the Chattogram Medical College Hospital for an autopsy. Police stated that further details regarding the circumstances and cause of death will become clear after the autopsy report is received and the investigation is completed.
