BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman held a meeting in London with M Naser Rahman, a member of the party’s National Executive Committee and the eldest son of the late finance minister M Saifur Rahman.
The hour-long meeting, held on September 10, focused on the country’s current political situation, the upcoming national election, and BNP’s organisational activities at both the district and upazila levels in Moulvibazar. Nurul Islam, president of Rajnagar Upazila BNP, was also present at the meeting.
Leaders present at the meeting emphasised that unity within the party and grassroots mobilisation will be critical for the BNP’s success in the next election.
Moulvibazar has long been considered a stronghold for BNP, playing a key role in national politics. As the political heir to M Saifur Rahman, Naser Rahman continues to carry considerable influence among local party activists. Many see this meeting as a signal of BNP’s renewed organisational focus in the region.
Toward the end of the meeting, Tarique Rahman and Naser Rahman were photographed together — a moment that attendees described as a symbol of party unity.
Leaders believe this image will inspire confidence and enthusiasm among grassroots members and convey a message of unity ahead of the national polls.
They further expressed hope that a unified leadership can restore public trust in BNP as the party prepares for the next election.
