National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Organiser Sarjis Alam on Monday said that the families of those killed and injured in July Uprising are more than enough to take ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina from airport to the gallows if she attempts to return to Bangladesh.
Speaking to journalists on Monday before start of an organisational coordination meeting and political workshop, Sarjis said those who lost their relatives and those who were injured in July Uprising are still carrying the wounds.
The event was organised by NCP Jhalakathi unit at a restaurant in Jhalakathi.
Issuing a stern warning, Sarjis said neither the death nor the burial of Sheikh Hasina would take place on the soil of Bangladesh.
Sarjis also criticised the current government’s various card initiatives, claiming that while the government initially announced plans to distribute various cards, including family cards, Tk242 crore was allocated solely for card manufacturing.
He raised questions regarding the execution of these public welfare initiatives, mentioning that in many instances, their implementation remains highly questionable.
“In the case of the family card project, the government ultimately realised that its implementation was not feasible, which is why there is currently little discussion on this matter from the government side,” he said.
He further argued that no project should be undertaken using public funds if its implementation is marred by uncertainty from the very beginning.
Sarjis stressed the importance of ensuring proper utilisation of public money alongside adoption of realistic planning.
Following the briefing, the coordination meeting and political workshop got underway, discussing the party’s organisational activities, future plans, and strategies to strengthen the party at local level.
The meeting was attended by NCP central leader Sarwar Tusher, NCP women’s leader and Member of Parliament from reserved seat Mahmuda Alam Mitu, alongside other central and local leaders.
