Banglalink (BL), Bangladesh’s digital operator, has partnered with US-based nonprofit Winrock International through the ASHSHASH project to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for survivors of human trafficking by integrating them into Banglalink Power, the company’s digital social distribution platform.

The partnership, supported by the Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh, was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at Banglalink’s headquarters, Tiger’s Den, in Dhaka. The agreement aims to help survivors generate income through digital recharge and related services while promoting safe and responsible use of digital tools.

Banglalink said in a press release that the initiative will strengthen digital and financial inclusion by enabling survivors to access earning opportunities through technology.

The MoU was signed by Muhammad Mehedi Hasan, Sales and Distribution Director of Banglalink, and Dipta Rakshit, Country Representative, Bangladesh, and Project Director of ASHSHASH at Winrock International.

Banglalink Power allows individuals to earn income by selling mobile recharges through smartphones. The platform enables youth, women, survivors and micro-entrepreneurs to participate in digital commerce without requiring any upfront investment.

Through the collaboration, Banglalink aims to expand the Banglalink Power ecosystem while helping survivors of human trafficking develop the skills and confidence needed to use digital platforms effectively and build economic resilience.

The platform includes digital KYC verification, real-time commission tracking and a transparent reward mechanism, allowing users to complete onboarding, monitor earnings and manage their activities more easily.

Taimur Rahman, Chief Corporate and Regulatory Affairs Officer of Banglalink, and Masnoon Haque, Senior Program Officer at Winrock International, were present at the signing ceremony.

Rahman said Banglalink was proud to partner with Winrock International to support survivors rebuilding their lives. He added that the initiative aligns with the GSMA Connected Women initiative, which focuses on empowering women to participate, contribute and thrive through digital access.

Dipta Rakshit said developing digital skills is essential for creating sustainable livelihood opportunities, particularly for vulnerable communities such as survivors of human trafficking.

He said the partnership would provide men and women supported by ASHSHASH across ten of Bangladesh’s most trafficking-prone districts with practical digital knowledge, enabling them to use technology confidently and strengthen their economic security.

The collaboration reflects Banglalink’s broader commitment to expanding digital inclusion by creating accessible income opportunities through technology-driven solutions and partnerships.
