Polish fashion retailer LPP has expanded its manufacturing network in Bangladesh from around 100 suppliers a decade ago to more than 350, with annual contracts now worth approximately $750 million.

The company, which describes itself as the eighth-largest buyer in Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) sector, is the main customer for approximately 30 per cent of its partner factories in the country, said in a press release on Saturday.

LPP operates more than 4,000 stores across 47 markets, with Bangladesh playing an important role in its international expansion.

LPP Purchasing Director Joanna Sikorska said the company’s growth in Bangladesh has been closely linked to the development of its local suppliers.

“As LPP grew, we were able to place larger and more diverse orders. At the same time, our partners invested in new technologies, skills and production capabilities, allowing us to grow together,” she said.

The relationship has evolved alongside Bangladesh’s emergence as one of the world’s leading garment manufacturing hubs and a major player in the global fashion industry.

Sikorska said she had worked closely with the Bangladeshi market and many of its suppliers for years, witnessing small factories develop into large, modern businesses employing thousands of workers.

She said relationships that began with relatively small orders had also developed into long-term partnerships.

“That trust is built over years, not overnight,” she said.

Sikorska said Bangladesh had played an important role in LPP’s growth, adding that the company viewed its suppliers as long-term business partners rather than simply factories.

“We want to continue developing this relationship and creating value together for our companies and for both Bangladesh and Poland,” she said.
