Speculation surrounding Afsan Ara Bindu’s return to acting has been put to rest after both the actor and Hoichoi authorities dismissed reports linking her to an upcoming web series.
Talk of a comeback gained momentum on social media in recent days, with claims suggesting that Bindu would reunite with Ziaul Faruq Apurba in a Hoichoi political thriller titled ‘Headline’. The rumours excited fans of the once-popular television pairing, who last appeared together nearly a decade ago.
The streaming platform, however, has firmly denied the reports. Hoichoi Bangladesh Country Director Sakib R Khan said no such project involving Bindu has been confirmed. He described the claims as false and said the platform has not finalised any casting related to the actor’s return.
Bindu also rejected the speculation when contacted, saying she was unaware of any plan to appear in Headline. While she acknowledged occasional conversations with directors and receiving story ideas, she said none were connected to the project mentioned online.
Headline is reportedly being developed as a political thriller, with Apurba expected to play a journalist. The series is said to be written by Syed Ahmed Shawki and directed by Saleh Sobhan Auneem, though details remain limited.
Apurba and Bindu were among television’s most recognisable on-screen pairs during the early 2010s, starring together in dramas such as ‘Megh’, ‘Mineral Water’ and ‘Bilombito Ticket’. Their last collaboration came in 2016 with ‘Tritiyojon’.
Bindu, who rose to prominence after winning the Lux–Channel i Superstar competition, stepped away from regular television work several years ago. She briefly returned to the screen in the Chorki-produced web film ‘Unish 20’, opposite Arifin Shuvoo.
