Lux Channel I Superstar alumna Afsan Ara Bindu, once a familiar face on television, has spoken candidly about her personal life, confirming that she is no longer married.
After stepping away from regular screen work for several years, Bindu last appeared in 2023 in the web film Nine 20 opposite Arifin Shuvo. Around that time, speculation circulated about her marriage and possible separation. She has now addressed those rumours directly, saying her married life has come to an end.
Bindu married businessman Asif Salahuddin Malik in 2014 and gradually withdrew from showbiz after the wedding. Appearing recently on the podcast ‘Behind the Frame with RRK’ on Maasranga Television, she revealed that although the couple had been living apart since 2017, their divorce was finalised in 2022.
She chose not to go into detail about the reasons behind the separation, explaining that she did not want to expose another person’s private life unnecessarily.
During the same conversation, Bindu also reflected on her professional relationship with Arifin Shuvo, with whom she delivered several popular television dramas. She said their on-screen chemistry came naturally because they understood each other well.
Asked about rumours of a past romantic relationship with Shuvo, Bindu responded light-heartedly, saying she was very young at the time and still does not have a clear answer as to why it did not work out. She noted that their lives then revolved almost entirely around work, leaving little space for anything else.
Bindu also expressed interest in working with Shuvo again if the right opportunity arises, saying she would like to bring their pairing back to audiences.
Bindu began her career as the first runner-up of the Lux Channel I Superstar competition in 2006. She gained early acclaim with Tauquir Ahmed’s Daruchini Dwip and later appeared in films such as ‘Piriter Agun Jole Digun’, ‘Jago’ and ‘Eito Prem’.
