Star Cineplex is set to host a special celebration in honour of the birthday of renowned novelist and filmmaker Humayun Ahmed.
November 13 marks the 77th birth anniversary of the beloved writer. To commemorate the occasion, ‘Humayun Ahmed Week’ will be observed at Star Cineplex from November 7 to 13.
During this week, four of Humayun Ahmed’s popular films such as ‘Amar Ache Jol’, ‘Ghetuputro Komola’, ‘Noy Nombor Bipod Sanket’ and ‘Daruchini Dwip’ will be screened across the Simanta Sambhar, Sony Square and Military Museum branches of Star Cineplex.
As part of the celebration, audiences can also enjoy a buy one, get one free ticket offer.
The 2007 film Daruchini Dwip, directed by Tauquir Ahmed and based on Humayun Ahmed’s novel of the same name, won the National Film Award for Best Film.
That same year, the romantic drama Noy Nombor Bipod Sanket was released, featuring Asaduzzaman Noor, Tania Ahmed, Diti and Jayanta Chatterjee among others.
Amar Ache Jol (2008), starring Ferdous, Bidya Sinha Mim, Zahid Hasan and Meher Afroz Shaon, followed soon after. Humayun Ahmed’s final film, Ghetuputro Komola (2012), went on to represent Bangladesh in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 85th Academy Awards.
