England legend David Beckham expressed his heartbreak after the Three Lions suffered a 2-1 defeat to Argentina in the FIFA World Cup 2026 semifinal in Atlanta on Wednesday.
Beckham was in the stands at Mercedes-Benz Stadium with his family as he watched England take on defending champions Argentina. He cheered on the Three Lions, but Argentina’s late comeback ended England’s hopes with a devastating defeat.
After the final whistle, his wife Victoria Beckham was seen consoling him as he looked visibly disappointed. The 1966 champions were aiming to reach their first World Cup final since lifting the trophy on home soil, but Argentina’s comeback secured their place in the showpiece match.
The former England captain took to Instagram to react to the result. Beckham shared his disappointment but praised the team, supporters and the nation for creating unforgettable memories throughout the tournament.
“Heartbreak for us all but memories that inspire and last forever… Thank you to our team, our fans & our country for what you have given us in this World Cup,” Beckham wrote.
