The Bangladesh Cricket Board has introduced a specialised Gender Sensitivity Training programme aimed at improving awareness, responsibility and professional conduct across men’s and women’s cricket as well as within its own management structure.

The initiative, held in Dhaka on Wednesday in partnership with UN Women, brought together members of the National Women’s Team and senior figures within the BCB. The programme focused on developing a deeper understanding of gender equality, along with the prevention of harassment and abuse in sporting environments.

In a statement, the BCB said the training was part of its wider commitment to ensuring that every individual involved in the game feels secure and respected. “The programme focused on building understanding around gender equality and the prevention of harassment and abuse within sports settings,” the Board noted.

The sessions included guided discussions, reflective exercises and group interaction aimed at promoting healthier team cultures and improving organisational integrity. According to the BCB, “The training reflects the Board’s commitment to nurturing an environment where every player and professional feels protected, respected and valued.”

Participants were encouraged to engage openly and consider how everyday behaviour and communication shape the culture of cricket in Bangladesh. The Board said the sessions “encouraged open dialogue, personal reflection and a deeper appreciation of how gender sensitivity contributes to healthier team culture and organisational integrity.”

The programme is expected to be followed by further initiatives as part of the BCB’s long-term strategy to create a safer and more inclusive environment for everyone involved in the sport.
